Week 9 Football — Finally, The Aftermath (And I DEMAND a Recount)

We were 7-2 heading into the slate of Friday night games.

BOLLES 55, Andrew Jackson 6. About as big a margin as I expected. 8-2.
ATLANTIC COAST 38, Fleming Island 7. I thought this would be much closer than it was. 9-2.
BAKER COUNTY 47, Stanton 0. Thought this was a Friday game, it was Thursday. Didn’t really matter. 10-2.
BARTRAM TRAIL 30, Matanzas 3. As expected. Sheesh, maybe I should have posted this sooner. 11-2.
BISHOP KENNY 34, Yulee 7. Hornets did not stay close as I thought they could. 12-2.
CLAY 48, Palatka 20. Didn’t expect Palatka to hang 20. Clay’s offense is good, but defense will be key in determining how far Blue Devils advance in playoffs 13-2.
DUVAL CHARTER 42, Christ’s Church 0. I’ve just noticed I haven’t missed any new ones so far. Dang I’m good. 14-2.
ED WHITE 46, Middleburg 11. Good? I’m great at this. 15-2.
EPISCOPAL 59, St. Petersburg Catholic 7. Paul Finebaum got nothing on me. 16-2.
FIRST COAST 41, West Port 2. Wondering how Ocala got the two. 17-2.
FLETCHER 38, Buchholz 7. 18-2.
Interlachen 12, KEYSTONE HEIGHTS 7. Wait, WHAT? This is the one miss? Other than White and FC this was the slam dunk. Surely. Or did I mix up Keystone and Union County? See, this is why those schools need wrestling. I’d know more about them. 18-3, but I protest.
PEDRO MENENDEZ 35, Ponte Vedra 21. I even got the impossible pick right. 19-3. Maybe the IHS win shouldn’t count.
UNIVERSITY CHRISTIAN 62, Eagle’s View 8. Yep. 20-3, with a highly suspect Friday loss and a GOTW loss. How is that even possible?

INPEACH!!!!!

I covered wrestling for 15 years up north and "retired" in both 1992 and again in 2011. But I couldn't stay away. Started Northeast Florida Matmen in 2013, Northwest Florida Matmen in 2015. We combined those sites into North Florida Matmen in the summer of 2018. And, we've started South Georgia Matmen in November of 2018. Our work is never paywalled, our content is searchable for all time. We're here because the kids keep lacing 'em up, so we'll keep writing 'em up.
