Also in Bracket 4:
Top Tier lost its first match in bracketed competition to South Dakota Blue, 34-21. In that match, William Pickren (126) was the only Matmen wrestler to find a win, decisioning Joshua Weisbrod 6-2. Ethan Pickren (120) lost by tech fall, 16-0, to SDB’s Dylan Hanisch, and Sampsel (138) injury-defaulted to Marcus Urban.
Spec Ops had two big wins Tuesday, hammering CHildren of the Corn, 59-13, and Nebraska White, 66-3. At 138, Richie McClanahan had two first-period pins, falling Drew Rethlake in 1:43 and Melvin Hernandez in 1:37. At 182, Jonathan Shoen won by forfeit over Children of the Corn and by fall in 2:40 against Sam Kolterman of Nebraska White. Finally, at 285, Scott Dollison had two pins, with a 37-second fall over COC’s Morgan Miller and a fall in 4:17 over Cyrus Marshall of Nebraska White.

In Bracket 1:
In a dual between Middle Atlantic Blue and CFWA-South Florida Lightning that had the attention of the entire building, the visitors eked out a 26-20 win. At 285, Gabe Beyer fell 2-1 to MAB’s Niko Camacho.
In the next dual, the Lightning faced defending champion Pennsylvania’s Young Guns Black in a 30-16 loss, and will go for third place Wednesday. Beyer won, 3-2, over YGB’s Isaac Reid.


I covered wrestling for 15 years up north and "retired" in 2011. But as I thought I had in 1992, I couldn't stay away. Started Northeast Florida Matmen in 2013, Northwest Florida Matmen in 2015.
