University Christian Makes Five

EDITED October 19 with updates.

And now we’ve got five. Thought we had six, but it was just a couple of announcements of some date changes, which we’ve added in.

New events on the UCHS calendar, in terms of the Christians’ participation, include the Ridgeview Rumble on the third weekend of December. Two weeks later, between Christmas and New Year’s, UC will travel to the Prep Slam in Atlanta, a massive tournament including private-school teams from all over the Southeast. Then, the first weekend in January, the Christians will be part of the Somerset Scuffle in Pembroke Pines. UC will then go to the Commander Duals at Ed White on January 14, then be off until the final weekend of January, when they will go Gulfside to the Gulf Coast Invitational, hosted by Arnold in Panama City Beach, a two-day dual tournament.

As for returning events, UC will begin the year at the Optimist Invitational at Terry Parker on the first weekend of December, and will compete in the Capital City Classic in Tallahassee on the second weekend. In February, the Christians will be back at the Clay Rotary in Green Cove Springs.

There are now a couple of midweek duals added to the slate, as UC will travel to Nease for a dual on December 20, host Bishop Kenny for an in-school dual on January 10, and head to St. Augustine for a quadrangular with Raines, Terry Parker and host FSDB on February 9 to close out the regular season.

So that’s five. Is your team going to be six?

I covered wrestling for 15 years up north and "retired" in 2011. But as I thought I had in 1992, I couldn't stay away. Started Northeast Florida Matmen in 2013, Northwest Florida Matmen in 2015. New initiative this year is to create a space on my sites where ALL Florida results can be stored, searched, reviewed and used by my readers, with NO COST TO THEM.
