Golden Eagles Add 28th Schedule

Last year’s Northeast area #1-ranked Fleming Island team has submitted its schedule for inclusion, bringing the overall NE-side total for 28 — for now (there is another one coming).

The Golden Eagles have two new events on the 2016-17 calendar, kicking off their season with one on the first Saturday of December, when they’ll be at the Clash of the Titans IBT at Orange City’s University HS. Fleming Island will also open January with a new event, competing in the Tournament of Champions hosted by Lake Mary on January 6-7.

There will be several recurring events  on the Fleming calendar, starting with the Westside Kiwanis meet — hosted by Bishop Snyder — on the second weekend of December, then Lyman’s Bill Scott Memorial IBT on the third weekend and, to close out the first month of the competitive season, Osceola’s Christmas Knockout Classic in between Christmas and New Year’s. In January, the Golden Eagles will make three return visits to Palm Coast, sandwiching a return to Matanzas and the St Johns River Conference roundrobin dual tournament in the third weekend with two trips to Flagler Palm Coast, first on the second weekend of January with the Flagler Duals and then the final weekend at the Flagler Rotary IBT tournament. In February, Fleming Island will return to Green Cove Springs and Clay’s Rotary IBT tournament.

Are there any midweek duals on the docket for Fleming Island? Why, yes, yes there is. Just one, but when that one is #UncivilWar2017 one is probably more than enough. The Golden Eagles will host Clay on January 25.

So there’s 28. We (well, I) know which team 29 is. Which team is going to be the 30th to come in NEXT?

I covered wrestling for 15 years up north and "retired" in 2011. But as I thought I had in 1992, I couldn't stay away. Started Northeast Florida Matmen in 2013, Northwest Florida Matmen in 2015. New initiative this year is to create a space on my sites where ALL Florida results can be stored, searched, reviewed and used by my readers, with NO COST TO THEM.
