Wrestlers are all about making everything perfect on the wrestling mat. So many of them don’t also get credit for striving for perfection in the classroom.
Gainesville junior Corey Ryan has achieved a version of perfection that precious few American high school students reach. According to the Alachua Schools Twitter feed, Ryan — who’ll suit up and start for the Hurricanes in Saturday’s Category 5 Duals at the Gainesville Boys & Girls Club — earned a perfect score in his most recent taking of the ACT test.
According to the tweet that announced this, 2.1 million students take the test each year. Of that number, just one-tenth of 1% — or a little over 2,000 test-takers throughout all of America each year — max out the test. Ryan’s one of them.
On the mats, Ryan has been a two-year post-season starter for Gainesville, qualifying for the 2A-Region 1 tournament in his freshman year. Injury at districts last year kept him from returning to regions last season.
