It’s Up

My work will get a bit more exposure at this site, and you may find you learn a lot more about the state of Florida here: Yes, I will be working for that site (as a contractor at first, though always in motion is the future — IF they can afford me). No, I have no intentions to stop working on this one. Yes, I have been assured our sites won’t compete — and how would they, really, if I’m working on both?

It has everything I would want in my site — eventually — and had a lot more financial backing than I was going to be able to generate. But at the same time, the managing head honcho made a 2+ hour trip to a Subway near my work to pitch me on this. What we’ve done here matters, and it will continue to matter. We’re all just getting started.

I covered wrestling for 15 years up north and "retired" in 2011. But as I thought I had in 1992, I couldn't stay away. Started Northeast Florida Matmen in 2013, Northwest Florida Matmen in 2015. New initiative this year is to create a space on my sites where ALL Florida results can be stored, searched, reviewed and used by my readers, with NO COST TO THEM.

  1. John Perrow says:

So since it seems you’ll be working with Gold dot. Should we not expect any state rankings on Northeast Florida Matmen?

    • I have contracted with Gold Dot. I am not on salary at the moment. I am not sure they can afford to have me full-time. I have not broached the subject with TWN. My guess right now is that they will not be allowed to appear, even with accreditation.

      • Kirk Lee says:

So you are saying that the matmen readers will not be able to get rankings without paying for them. Is that correct?

      • It’s not what *I* am saying. It’s what the founders of the Wrestling Nation are saying. I merely contract with them to provide additional content that I can’t easily provide on my site. The Wrestling Nation is paying for the services of the ranker (my understanding is that that is the first time the ranker has been paid for his time in creating those rankings) and as such have the right to determine how those rankings go out. If you have an issue with them on that, I would encourage you to reach out to them through TFWR’s Facebook page. They may have emails as well. Do I think that rankings should be made publicly available? Yes, because I think they should be made available to all media and therefore all fans. But what I think doesn’t really matter, because not only am I not in charge of that site, I’m not even a full-time employee on that site.
