Creekside lead manager Kaylynn Eubanks (left) poses with her favorite Knights wrestler (and boyfriend), fellow senior Corey Grower, as the pair were honored at the Knights’ Senior Night event prior to wrestling Middleburg on Wednesday evening (Photo by Shannon Heaton).

Name: Kaylynn Eubanks.
School and grade: Creekside, senior.
As a manager: There might not be a better scorebook administrator than Eubanks, who has met an exacting standard with perfection over the past few years during her time as the Knights’ lead manager.
What was it that got you interested in managing?: “My brother wrestled (2015 Creekside graduate Cole Eubanks) and I knew I needed service hours for schools, plus I knew I would be at the matches anyway.”
Why did you stay with it?: “I actually really didn’t want to. My friend Jessica did it all four years and she didn’t have anyone to do it with, so I just stuck with it.”
Favorite food: Pickles.
Favorite restaurant: Olive Garden.
Favorite TV show: The Walking Dead.
Favorite movie: Sweet Home Alabama.
Favorite subject in school: English.
Favorite college/university: University of Florida.
Favorite wrestler: Corey Grower.
Favorite athlete (non-wrestler): Katrina Dydurik (track & cross country runner at Creekside).
Best tournament/dual experience: “We went to state to sophomore year because Cole was in it. Everyone went out the first day, so we got to swim in the pool and be in the hot tub, so that was cool.”
Favorite thing about managing: “Gets me out of school early on Fridays.”
Least favorite thing about managing: “Literally taking up your entire Saturday.”
Something we think we know about wrestlers but we really don’t is: “Most would think they’re really mean or gross or sweaty, but they’re really nice people. Gentle giants.”
Coach Rick Marabell on Eubanks: “She understands how important the stats are. She’s fantastic. She understands what I need, she really helps lead the other managers so they can take over what she’s doing. And she really takes care of the boys. She puts a lot of peanut butter on their bagels, and they like that.”
Parents: Lisa Gonzalez, Durbin Creek, and Kyle Eubanks, Jacksonville.

The #WeRunThisSport feature, we hope, will be a recurring feature through the end of the season in the second week of March, and we want to spotlight YOUR hardest-working managers. Have a nomination you’d like us to spotlight? Drop us a line at nefloridamatmen@gmail.com with your nomination. Thank you for your support!

I covered wrestling for 15 years up north and "retired" in 2011. But as I thought I had in 1992, I couldn't stay away. Started Northeast Florida Matmen in 2013, Northwest Florida Matmen in 2015. New initiative this year is to create a space on my sites where ALL Florida results can be stored, searched, reviewed and used by my readers, with NO COST TO THEM.
