#Schedules19-20: Oakleaf Is 29TH IN

We are up to our 29th schedule thus far.

It was waiting for me in my inbox when I got to work this morning. It’s another one out of 3A-District 1, with Oakleaf (we only have three teams left to submit schedules in that district). Most definitely we are now at the one-third point when it comes to schedules.

The Knights will begin with their traditional trip to Bishop Snyder for the North Florida Duals, which has traditionally been a one-day event, scheduled for December 7th, the first Saturday of the competitive season. The next two Oakleaf dates will both be home dates in Week 2, in which the Knights will host county rival Orange Park in a midweek dual on the 11th. Oakleaf will then host an ambitious one-day duals tournament on the Knights’ football field on the 13th, the Friday Knight Lights, which will have room for eight teams in it (at last check I believe I have seen seven commitments). The month will stay in duals mode, as Oakleaf will travel to Yulee for its two-day duals tournament on the 20th and 21st, then break for the holidays.

In January, Oakleaf will go back to hosting responsibilities, housing the 3A-District 1 FHSAA dual team tournament on the 8th, with the possibility of region duals on the 16th and state duals on the 24th and 25th. The Knights will swing back into the regular season during the second weekend, going to Jacksonville for Terry Parker’s USMC Duals on the 10th and 11th. They’ll have their first away midweek dual on the 15th, facing off against county rival Middleburg, then will host Wolfson and county rival Ridgeview for a home midweek tri-meet on the 22nd. Oakleaf will then go back to Terry Parker for the Parker Duals on the 24th and 25th (assuming no state duals appearance).

February competition will kick off on January 31st for the Knights, as they will go to region rival (and former district rival) Flagler Palm Coast for the Flagler Rotary, which will wrap on the 1st. The Knights will then compete in Englewood’s one-day duals tournament (another Friday event) on the 7th, then close out the regular season with an away midweek dual against new district rival Creekside in a #KnightvsKnight event on the 12th.

So. That’s 29 schedules. We need more. We could use YOUR SCHOOL’S SCHEDULE. Question is…WHO’S NEXT???

I covered wrestling for 15 years up north and "retired" in both 1992 and again in 2011. But I couldn't stay away. Started Northeast Florida Matmen in 2013, Northwest Florida Matmen in 2015. We combined those sites into North Florida Matmen in the summer of 2018. And, we've started South Georgia Matmen in November of 2018. Our work is never paywalled, our content is searchable for all time. We're here because the kids keep lacing 'em up, so we'll keep writing 'em up.
