We are up to our 50th schedule thus far. I had asked last week if we’d get 50 schedules by the end of the week. We did. It came in Sunday night, which to me is the end of the week, even if the calendar is lying and says otherwise.
But, because I am still hip-deep in writing up South Georgia previews — you should check them out when they release on November 1 at 6 a.m. — I decided to wait on writing the precap until this morning.
Today’s schedule comes in from Stanton (still feels a bit odd to only have gone back to that school once since the school year began, after going daily, sometimes multiple times per day, for the previous four years), in the revamped 2A-District 3. The Blue Devils were one of the few teams that remained within that district.
The Blue Devils open the competitive year in a familiar venue and tournament, going to Gateway Conference and district rival Terry Parker for the Arlington Optimist Invitational, a two-day IBT on December 6-7. They’ll host the first of two midweek tri-meets on the 11th, with Paxon and Wolfson coming over. Stanton will be one of the participants in the inaugural Dual in the Dunes, a one-day duals tournament that Fernandina Beach is hosting, on the 14th. From there, the Blue Devils will break for the holidays.
January kicks off with 2A-District 3 dual team competition, with Fletcher hosting that event, on the 7th, with the possibility of Region 1 duals on the 16th at the District 3 champion’s home site, and state duals on the 24th and 25th. The first regular-season competition of the year has Stanton going back to Terry Parker, this time for the two-day USMC Duals on the 10th and 11th. Stanton will stay in town for the third weekend of the month, returning to Westside’s one-day roundrobin tournament on the 18th. Should they not advance to state duals, the Blue Devils will compete at Terry Parker’s Parker Duals on the 24th and 25th.
February competition for the Blue Devils will begin on January 31st, with the first day of the Gateway Conference tournament, going back out to Fletcher once again. Stanton will then travel to Baker County for a midweek dual on the 6th and will conclude the regular season with its second midweek home tri-meet. The Blue Devils’ Senior Night will include First Coast and FSDB and will be held on the 11th.
So. That’s 50 schedules. We need more. We could use YOUR SCHOOL’S SCHEDULE. Question is…WHO’S NEXT???
