SAEGERTOWN, PA — Big moves translated into bigger team points, and those carried the day for Bolles alum Chris Bono‘s Wisconsin team Friday night.

Facing off against Edinboro at Saegertown High School’s gym, the Badgers bagged three falls and a major in turning back the Fighting Scots, 28-15, improving their duals record to 5-0 after two weeks of wrestling.

“Our guys did a great job tonight in a very tough environment. I am excited for the rest of the season,” Bono said. “I liked the way the team went out and got a bunch of bonus points for us. In the matches we did lose, we showed a lot of fight.”

Seth Gross (133), Tristan Moran (141) and Evan Wick (165) all won by pin for the Badgers, with Cole Martin (149) taking a 16-3 major.

Tyler Dow (5-2 at 184) and Trent Hillger (4-0 at 285) both had decisions for Wisconsin. Dow’s victory came against a Saegertown HS alum. The Badgers gave up no uncontested bonus points in the dual.

Wisconsin is now off until November 23, when the Badgers will take a flight to Orem, Utah, and face Utah Valley.

I covered wrestling for 15 years up north and "retired" in both 1992 and again in 2011. But I couldn't stay away. Started Northeast Florida Matmen in 2013, Northwest Florida Matmen in 2015. We combined those sites into North Florida Matmen in the summer of 2018. And, we've started South Georgia Matmen in November of 2018. Our work is never paywalled, our content is searchable for all time. We're here because the kids keep lacing 'em up, so we'll keep writing 'em up.
